In August 2008 we held a one mile time
trial on the grass 400m track at QE. The track has a definite slope on
it and the grass was a little longer this year than ideal, but it was to
provide a good comparison to see what progress WACers had made in the
past 12 months.
Ed Arnold and Nicki Roe were
officiating and there was some 20 runners taking part. Of the eight
runners who also ran a year earlier Dave Pearson equaled his time to the
second and all the others improved. The really big improvements came,
not surprisingly, from our juniors – well done to Ross (+16s), Sharon
(+24s), Callum (+50s), Piers (+13s). While amongst the seniors Daryl
just managed to beat last year’s time by a single second, but Gerry and
Alan managed very respectable improvements of +16s and +12s.
Ross was the fastest man out there,
something he repeated in the 4 mile time trial two days later.
