Summer Time
Trial 7 April 2011
Course record broken … twice!
Big
turnout last week for the first summer time trial. Newby Andy Worthford
came in an honourable first but wasn’t allowed the trophy on this his
first showing. That was rightfully won by Anthony Clark who stormed in
second (and he briefly took the course record). Unfortunately the
mentally ailing timekeeper announced otherwise and Andy Porter had to be
disabused of his short-lived fame! Apologies to all. But thanks to the
shedfull of helpers who tried (in vain) to sort me out.
Roy
Long was fastest in with a new course record of 22.41 with Ant only 6
seconds behind. Lynn Hutchings was first lady home and fastest too.
This is one helluva family I tell you!
The
club’s fame has now spread to Australia! Young Sam Mallett came all the
way over just for this first summer trial. Thought he’d pop in to see
his dad Paul while he was here. In spite of jet and building-site lag,
he came in a creditable 6th with 11th
fastest time.
Now the base times have been set for this year’s
summer course we shall eagerly watch for improvements!
