2007 DORSET SPORTSHALL LEAGUE CHAMPION

Report of Sportshall on 15 December at Canford

Congratulations to Abbey Sandford on winning the individual Under 15 Girls title in the 2007 Dorset Sportshall League.

In a close fought competition with two other girls from Dorchester AC, Abbey sealed her victory in the final match of the league at Canford School on 15 December by a mere 3 points. Abbey was well supported by Sarah Jordan (5^th overall), Ellis Marples (6^th overall) and Charlotte Brumpton (8^th overall) and together they clinched 2^nd spot in the team competition.

Sticking with the Under 15 age group, but moving on to the Boys, our sole entrant in the league, Kyle Wilson, was unable to attend the final league match due to injury, however, his scores from the first match secured 3^rd place in the team competition and 11^th in the individual competition.

Moving on to the Under 13s, the Girls had a good final match at Canford. All the girls performed really well and secured 2^nd place in the match, and 4^th place overall in the league. The cross section of ages in the Girls team is quite wide with a significant number of the girls under 11. The performances of the under 11’s have been recognised and a number have been selected for the Dorset squad to compete in Torbay early next year.

Turning to the Boys, it was unfortunate that we only managed to field a team of 6 in the Boys competition (teams are supposed to have 12 athletes) however, despite this they finished 3^rd in the final match and 3^rd overall in the league. Again the performances of the under 11’s have been recognised and a couple have been selected for the Dorset squad to compete in Torbay early next year.
