WAC Road Runners Championship Rules 2017

  1. The Championship consists of 20 pre-selected races of varying distances both on and off road and will run from 1st December 2016 to 30th November 2017.

  2. All paid up members qualify (agreed and confirmed by membership secretary). No membership - No points!

  3. First claim runners and second claim runners, whose first claim team does not have a road running section, will qualify.

  4. Athletes are to enter races as a Wimborne Athletic Club runner and are obliged to wear a club vest.

  5. The scoring system in each nominated race is as follows:

    a.     1st  male and female                  50 points

    b.     2nd male and female                  49 points

    c.     3rd male and female                   48 points

    d.     4th male and female                   47 points (and so on)

  6. All WAC finishers will receive points

  7. Positions/times will be taken from the official race organiser's results. Chip timing will be used, if available.

  8. There is no requirement to complete a minimum number of events, and, on 30th November, runners' best 10 results will be totalled. Runners with the highest aggregated score take the awards.

  9. Awards will be presented to male and female winners and runners-up, in the following categories: Senior; V35; V40; V45; V50; V55; V60 and V65.

  10. Age on 31st December of Championship year determines the age group for the entire year.

  11. The top male and female winner will not be eligible for an age group award.

  12. Any official marathon (as accepted by 100 marathon club) completed in the season will count. Proof of finishing time is required. Runners are to notify Championship Organiser of time.

  13. In the event of a tie, the best time in the last Championship race (that the tied runners finished) will be used as the decider. If still tied, the award will be shared.

  14. If any Championship race is cancelled by the Race or Club Championship Organiser or deemed not suitable, for whatever reason, a new race will be substituted time and/or alternative race permitting. If it has not been possible to reschedule a race this will reduce the total number of Championship races.

  15. All WACers have a responsibility to ensure their details are given correctly when entering races. Club Championship and Race Organisers must be advised of any changes, ideally prior to the event taking place. Failure to do so may result in you not being included in the Championship results for that race. The responsibility is on the individual, not the Championship Organiser.

  16. Besides the above awards, prizes will be given to the most improved athlete in the club. Rules and conditions can be found following the list of 2017 races.
