Medals at the English Schools Ė 8 & 9 July 2016
Peter Impett reports from Gateshead
Two medals came home from Gateshead with club members, as a result
of the English Schools Championships held at Gateshead on 8th
and 9th July. A record breaking nine athletes from the
club were selected out of the Dorset team of twenty five though one
was unable to travel.
Ryan Webb won a second medal going one better than last year for a
silver in the Senior Boys High Jump with 2m09. Piers Copeland won
his first English Schools medal with a bronze in the 1500 metres.
This was a highly competitive race with Piers unwinding from the
back to finish third in 3.53.12. Piers came from such a long way
back that the race commentator didnít even mention him until he was
about to cross the line.
