On a night which set a new record for
the numbers taking part in a Thursday time trial, it was Laura Wayman
who put in the most improved performance. After her first month of real
commitment to running, she beat her previous time for this route by more
than 3 minutes. Laura had to do it the hard way too, with nobody to
chase. Laura’s was just one of a number of excellent performances,
however. The fastest time recorded on the night came from Anthony Clark,
who came in at 25:20.
Our timekeepers/recorders did an
outstanding job with 24 runners crossing the finish line in one 2 minute
spell, so huge thanks go to Jill Harsent, Julie Mead, Becky and Peter
Wood who gave up their opportunity to run for the benefit of the rest of
us. Thank you.
As has often been the case over the
past eight years, Jill was amongst those working for the benefit of her
fellow team-mates. Her willingness to work for others also came through
later in the evening at Wimborne Town Football Club. With Jill moving
away from the area she decided to cover the cost of the food so that all
the money we collected on the night plus any donations could be passed
on to WaterAid Dorset Support Group. WaterAid works in 17 countries
providing water, sanitation and hygiene education to some of the world's
poorest people for more information about the charity visit

Well done, WACers were able to hand
over £90.25. You have just made a big difference to six people in the
world (£15 per head to provide safe water, sanitation and hygiene
education).
