July 2010 – Cowgrove 3.8 miles Time Trial
Robin Hughes does it again!
It was a glorious summer’s evening for
the July time trial (perhaps a little too warm for comfort), with good
numbers taking part. It was great to welcome along four new faces – Kim
Brackley, Rachel Gladdis, Ruth Parker and Dave Warsley – all of whom
gave good accounts of themselves and seemed none the worse for the
experience!
Robin Hughes, for the second 4-mile
time trial in succession, worked his way through the field. It’s great
to see his true form re-emerging after that long and frustrating period
with back problems. Eventual he managed to pull out almost a clear
minute over the nearest of the field, with Rachel and Ruth (two of our
new faces providing him with the stiffest challenge).
The fastest man out there was Andy
MacDonald, but there were also very strong runs from both David Long and
John Hutchings. The quickest of the girls was Lynn Hutchings who got the
better of all the men who started on the same handicap as her.
Tom Wilson-Croome’s run started well
enough, but by halfway he was struggling with a knee injury which saw
him drop time dramatically in the final two miles.
Our timekeepers did a great job, thank
you to Kim Jolliffe and Elaine Long. Full results for the time trial
