Summer Time Trial – May 2014 The Magnificent Seven

Mike Hilborne reports on the Summer Time Trial

The upcoming North Dorset Marathon and a late afternoon deluge of rain meant that the field was a small but thoroughly ‘Magnificent Seven’.

Kim’s timings looked good on paper and proved accurate in the run itself, as nearly everyone arrived back within minutes of one another. Indeed, the first four finishers were all on the football club tarmac at the same time.

The rain having abated, all returned safe and sound, having run a good race.

How often has the time trial winner returned the next month and won again?

Well, it happened again this month as Mark Wood was triumphant. Will Mark keep the trophy if he wins a third time next month, a la Brazil retaining the Jules Rimet trophy? Perhaps our trophy is not as elegant, but it certainly carries the same sense of history and kudos.

Interestingly, John Scott was again second to Mark and with the same time difference of 15 seconds.

Well done everyone, runners and helpers (Wendy, Gerry, Nick, et al) alike.
