November 2010 – Willett 5k miles Time Trial
Becka Hughes takes the win on her 5k TT
debut.
It was great to see the numbers taking
part in the time trial climbing once more. Becka Hughes, again, was
first over the line. She has run in three time trials (the previous two
on the Cowgrove route) and come in first each time (the first of them on
a guessed handicap). How long can she keep this enviable record going?
There were time trial debuts from Tom
Collis, Veronica Harvey, Simon Tomlinson and Will Wilson. Tom’s run was
a solid and uneventful run. For Veronica and Will their handicaps
weren’t sufficient, so they appear at the end of the time chart. Now we
have actual times for them watch them rise through the placings over the
coming months as we see the big improvements made by those new to this
kind of running. Simon ran superbly, but unfortunately he missed the
turning into the hospital car park so lost time. His true time would
have been around the same as the fine run recorded by Steve Headley
(20:25).
For the men
the best run of all came from Roy Long (18:23), and keeping it in the
family was David Long with the next best time – 18:47.
The outstanding performance from the ladies, once again, came from Lynn
Hutchings, who lopped off another 30 seconds from last month’s time.
Good progress is being made by Tim Box,
Kevin Elliott, Claire Scammell and Nick Solomon. Let’s see if they can
build on this in the coming months.
It was great to welcome back Laura
Harvey, it’s been a long time since her last time trial, and Daryl
Davies – returning from injury.
Our timekeepers did a great job, thank
you to Mike Holborne, Elaine Long, Wendy Kennedy and Dave Wild. Full
