Winter Time Trial – 6 October 2011
Welcome to the new course –
and new course record.
With
the darker evenings upon us we reverted to the winter time trial route –
but with a difference. The recently recced new route for this winter has
only one road crossing in it’s entire 5k distance.
For
this month’s time trial there were four debutants, three new faces Paul
Beadling, Helen Linley and Adam Neil. They were joined by Jordan
Symington, who has come through the ranks of the cross-country/middle
distance youth system.
Our
time trial debutants were to play a significant part in proceedings,
with three of them recording the fastest times on the night. For Adam,
who recorded 20 minutes dead, that makes him the course record holder,
but no doubt it won’t be long before we start to see sub-20 minute
times.
Although Kim Jolliffe was the first to finish she didn’t go off on what
would have been her handicap time, the next two in were Jordan and Adam
and as both had gone on guessed handicaps they will have to wait at
least another month before they are able to claim the time trial trophy
outright. Time trial winner on the night was the fastest woman, Rachel
Gladdis, well done Rachel. Not shown on the charts were Callum Kennedy
and Ryan Walbridge. They were not racing full-on as they both had races
at the weekend and their times were not recorded. Callum and Ryan hunted
as a pack with Jordan and these three steadily picked their way through
the field.
