One Mile Time Trial – 15 July 2010
Report and timings.
It was a busy Thursday night at the
club with lots of options available to us. We had a group running 13
miles, another doing 10 and the largest did a 5.5 mile run. The
remaining 10 of us took advantage of the grass 400m track up at QE
School. Those of you who have run on that 400m track will need reminding
that it is on a slope. On the night of the time trial there was a wind
to contend with too, although how much impact it had on our times is
unclear as it was blowing up the hill.
Andy MacDonald, our three mile time
trial specialist, was, unsurprisingly, the fastest man on the track.
However, he was pushed very hard by Ross Kirkpatrick who kept Andy
‘honest’ for the whole distance. Next in was a determined run from
Callum Kennedy, who was the only other runner to dip under 6 minutes.
Steve Headley is looking stronger by week and he broke way early from
the main group of Paul Teck, Nick Solomon, Dave Wild, Kevin Elliott and
Andrew Olden. Alan Kirkpatrick rounded off our finishers with his annual
one mile run – it would be great to see Alan training with us more
often.
