Listed are two jobs working for the Team Dorset Athletics Network.

The jobs are:  Network Coaching Co-ordinator and Network Volunteer Co-ordinator

 

JOB DESCRIPTION :    NETWORK COACHING CO-ORDINATOR

Part of McCain Athletics Networks

Salary:                £20,000 pa (for 37hr week over 1year)

Hours :                25 per week on average

Duration :           10 months

Responsible to:  Team Dorset Management Committee     

Job Purpose:

To enhance the profile of Athletics coaching in Dorset and optimise the coaching resource available within the participating clubs.

The overall objectives and guidance for this initiative are set out in the Athletics Network Plan which will form the basis for the Co-ordinator’s approach.

The work will occasionally entail working weekends and / or evenings

Main Duties and Responsibilties:

  1. Build upon and finalise the database of qualified and qualifying coaches
  1. Identify gaps in the coaching matrix and formulate a plan as to how they may be addressed.
  1. Introduce a programme to improve the standard of coaching within the network which provides opporunities for caches to maximise their potentialeg mentoring
  1. Work with the Clubs ans schools to ensure that Athletes are exposed to appropriate and sufficient competition opportunities. Recognition of national athletics programmes to achieve this end
  1. Assist and work with other organisations to raise the awareness of athletic opportunities across the county and how to access Clubs.
  1. Liaise with Clubs and other organisations to promote Athletics for disabled persons and ensure the approprite coaching for such individuals/groups is in place
  1. Work with the Clubs to ensure continuity in Athletics coaching provision
  1. Arrange and attend coaching forums and meetings on either a 1:1 (Club) or “across the network” basis.
  1. Monitor the various athletic websites to pick up on coaching directives and initiatives and convey information to Clubs.
  1. Work closely with the Volunteer Co-ordinator to compliment the overall objectives of the Plan and actively explore avenues for fundraising.
  1. Explore the possibilities for non-affiliated coaches to participate in Network activities
  1. Ensure the Network is aware of and actively participating in national and local sports initiative
  2. Laying the foundation for the scheme to run into the following 2 years


Reporting

The Jobholder will be required to give brief monthy updates (in writing) on plans and achievements and a more detailed quarterly report which will be presented to the Management Committee.

JOB DESCRIPTION :    NETWORK VOLUNTEER CO-ORDINATOR

Part of McCain Athletics Networks

Salary:                 £15,000 pa (for 37hr week over 1year)

Hours :                 18 per week on average

Duration :             10 months

Responsible to:   Team Dorset Management Committee     

Job Purpose:

To analyse the number and mix of current Volunteers across the network with a view to providing and implementing a plan to expand such numbers and ensure continuity. Produce and execute initiatives for Fundrasing across the Network.

The overall objectives and guidance for this initiative are set out in the Athletics Network Plan which will form the basis for the Co-Ordinator’s approach

The duties will occasionally entail working weekends and / or evenings

Main Duties and Responsibilties:

  1. Set up and make available a database of volunteers with relevant details.

  1. Identify gaps in the Volunteer matrix and formulate a plan as to how they may be addressed.

  1. Introduce a programme to atttract Volunteers into Athletics and connect them with appropriate clubs.

  1. Develop links with organisations which are possible sources of children coming into the sport of Athletics.

  1. Work with the Clubs to ensure that Volunteers are manged and used in the most appropriate manner and can be seen as a potential route to becoming Coaches

  1. Actively explore the communications links with the parents and guardians of existing club athletes with a view to regular volunteering

  1. Work closely with the Coaching Co-ordinator to compliment the overall objectives of the Plan and explore avenues for fundraising

  1. Actively explore the possibilities for fundraising and grant access across the network to sponsor coaching forums or fund coaching materials.

  1. Laying the foundation for the scheme to run into the following 2 years


Volunteers

The Jobholder should be aware that for the purpose of this plan volunteers include officials of the clubs eg secretary, treasurer, parents of the athletes who assist in various club matters eg coaches or those helping with refreshments, track & field officials (qualified and helpers) and marshalls and helpers involved in distance races.
