Wimborne Athletic Club got caught in the crossfire of a match which had
three of the league’s big hitters in contention for the championship.
Weakened by absence and injury, our athletes still put in some good
Quadkids competition for the under-11s Erin Thickett put in the fastest
75 metre time and was third overall in the girls’ event.

mainstream competition Grace Copeland pulled out all the stops to win
the under 13 800 in 2.26.9 and showed that she is more than a one trick
pony by securing second place in the javelin with 19m59. Grace’s 800m
bettered the club record for and under-13 girl , ste by Amanda Bailey
way back in 2001. Becca May was the other under-13 winner with a 1m35
high jump. At under-15 level Kelly Snook won the high jump with 1m50.
Bethan Burley won the hurdles with 12.57s and was second in the javelin
with 24m90. She must have been hoping for better from her shot put, at
9.79 a little down on her personal best. Pippa Hine is showing a
welcome return to form with a second-placed 13.61 in the 100m and 28.43
in the 200. Jess May won the B-string javelin with 17m12.
Murphy-Parry 5.00.70 and Elliott Symes 5.12.59 were second and third in
the under-13 boys 1500m. Elliott was second in the shot with 6m68. The
under-15 boys repeated the under-13s scoring in the 1500 with Piers
Copeland second 4.32.06 and Joe Miles third with 4.37.33. Ross Crabbe
won the long jump with 5m18. Louis Coppard was second in the 400 on
55.00 and Fraser Read won the B-string on 55.53 at under-17 level. Ryan
Webb increased his personal best to 1m 85 in the high jump to take
