Glastonbury provides one of the Wessex
leagues best courses. There were huge fields for the races on the day
as the event was also combined with the Avon and Somerset Cross-Country
Championships.
The big story for WACers was the return
to competitive running of Graeme Furley. Graeme has made amazing
progress since he was the innocent victim of a road accident that put
him in a wheelchair for many months. Inevitably, Graeme being Graeme, he
ended the day feeling he should have done better in the race. This
probably tells us something about his determination and mental strength
and helps to explain the extraordinary recovery he continues to make.
For the senior ladies we had two new faces welcome to cross-country
Nicki Roe and Claire Newby.
