There was a good turnout for September’s handicap four mile time trial.
We used the summer route from QE via Pamphill Church to Cowgrove and
then back to QE via The Cuthbury. Handicaps are worked out based on each
runner’s previous times over the route, if you haven’t run the route
before we guesstimate what your handicap should be. Whoever crosses the
line first is awarded the Time Trial Trophy which they return when they
defend it the following month. Only runner’s who have a previous
recorded time can win the trophy.
The
handicapping system ensures that the trophy is won by whoever has seen
the greatest improvement in form. Well done to Teresa Ashton who wins
the trophy this month as she managed to improve her time by almost 3
minutes – a terrific performance especially considering Teresa improved
by almost 2 minutes the previous month. September’s other big improvers
were Claire Newby who improved by almost 2 minutes and Tim Box and Ian
Kennedy who both improved by around a minute.
