It was good to see the numbers taking
part in the time trial creeping back up. We had one time trial debutant
– Kelly Williams. Kelly paired up well with Laura Booker and this
enabled Laura to claim a time trial PB. Also running their fastest time
trials yet were Gerry Hutchings, John Hutchings and Celia Ireland. It
was great to see Peter Wood doing his first time trial for a very long
time too. The fastest man out there on the night was Guy Thompson who
was the only runner to go sub-25 minutes.
It is not too often we get a runner who
manages to record consecutive time trial wins. Normally one good run
pushes your handicap up and this makes it very difficult to repeat the
feat four weeks later. Well done to John Hutchings whose form continues
to improve at a dramatic rate (2.5 minutes improvement this month, to
add to the 3.5 minutes he gained in August – and this, over only 4
miles!). With the cross-country season just around the corner John is
going to be a great asset to the team. Well done also to Kim Jolliffe
who was renewing her acquaintance with the pointy end of the field for
the first time in a while. It was good to see Claire Newby back out
there again after a frustrating time with injury.
