South West Schools XC Championships, Truro – 27 February

Abbie Hine reports as WACers race for Dorset.
About two months ago there
was the Dorset Schools Cross-Country Championships. In this event five
Wimborne runners ran: Abigail Logan, Abbie Hine, Piers Copeland, Ryan
Walbridge and Sharon Hutchings. Three out of five runners then proceeded
to, and ran in, the South West Schools Cross-Country Championships in
Truro on the 27th February. (Abigail Logan, Ryan Walbridge
and Abbie Hine).

The event started with the
year 7 girls, Abbie Hine and Abigail Logan ran 3k. The top 15 in each
race got a letter inviting them to the mini marathon, but then only five
people got selected. Abbie Hine was running in spikes and Abi Logan was
running in trainers so Abi Logan had a slightly disadvantage, but she
still did very well and came 47th. Abbie Hine came 14th
and got a letter for the mini marathon but hasn’t heard anything else
about it so she won’t be going. Both the girls did very well and managed
to get their picture in the local Echo!

Ryan’s race went very well
too, he came 34th and on the first lap he was a long way back and he
managed to skip about 30 people and make his way through the crowd! He
did very well, so did Abi and Abbie! and they even got a cool Dorset top
