Wimborne Athletic Club, established in 1984, promotes both recreational and competitive athletics in Wimborne and nearby areas for individuals aged eight and above. As a family-oriented club, we take pride in offering inclusive and friendly training sessions across all athletic disciplines.
We are affiliated with England Athletics, South of England AA, and Dorset County AA, ensuring that all our members are individually registered with England Athletics through the club.
The club is primarily funded through annual member subscriptions and track fees collected during training sessions. Additional funding comes from donations, grants, and social events. Most of our expenses are related to hiring indoor and outdoor facilities at the QE Leisure Centre, purchasing and maintaining equipment, and paying affiliation fees to athletic bodies and leagues. We strive to minimize running costs and aim to break even each year.
Aims and Objectives Our goals are straightforward:
- Provide a safe and structured training environment to help children, teenagers, and adults enjoy athletics and reach their potential.
- Organize training sessions that help members achieve and maintain competitive fitness levels.
- Collaborate with schools, parents, and local clubs to raise awareness of athletics and offer a sustainable club structure.
- Offer competitive opportunities for athletes.
- Build a social structure within the club to foster team building and fundraising opportunities.
