The annual Wimborne 10 mile road race was held on Sunday 20th November. Over 400 runners gathered at Pamphill Green near Wimborne for this the final event of the year in the Dorset Road Race League. In near perfect conditions Harry Lauste of Tremlow Track Club won the race in a time of 52:33 minutes followed by Christopher Peck (54:18) and Jonathon Cooper (56:56) both from Egdon Heath Harriers. The first lady was Vicky Ingham from Poole Runners in a time 59:35 minutes followed by Georgina Povall (1:01:40) from Egdon Heath Harriers and Helen O’Neile (1:03:01) from Poole Runners.

All the runners’ race bibs bore the message “In memory of David Edwards” who passes away on 15th October. David lost his sight 30 years ago but despite his disability, he was a veteran of over 200 parkruns and competed in events such as The Virtual London Marathon and Great South Run with his guides, John Baker and Cliffe Tribe. He was an avid campaigner for the charity Guide Dogs. Carrying his legacy forward Cliffe Tribe completed the Wimborne10 race blindfolded guided by his companion John Baker and raised over £3000 for Guide Dogs.

In addition, the race raised money for several local charities including Julia’s House
