Peter Impett reports
Wimborne Athletic Club high jumper Ryan Webb pulled out all the stops at the British Universities Indoor Championships in Sheffield at the weekend. Clearing the qualifying height of 1m93 comfortably the Birmingham City University student left the thirty one strong field behind as he moved the bar up to 2m14 in stages.
The win for Verwood resident Webb is some consolation for missing a medal and taking a fourth place in the UK Championships in Birmingham the week before when a clear run to 2m09 was spoilt by two very narrow failures at 2m14.
Sports Therapy student Ryan is hoping to exceed the 2m20 personal best set at the Dorset County Championships last year in the coming outdoor season.
