A scorching hot day in Exeter saw Wimborne take a major step forward towards the league title. Winning by over 400 points this was an emphatic victory. Everybody played their part. Distance runners suffered in the heat but chalked up points as did the band of officials. Team manager Paula Hind donned the spikes to score points in the 100 metres and long jump.
Will Langridge was the star performer with his grade 1 Under 15 triple jump in 12m35. Harry Jones was the other winner in the under 15s with a 10m79 shot putt. Will teamed up with Woody van der Felz, Alfie Fry and Charlie Cleall to set a new club record in the relay in 49.56.
The under 15 girls scored heavily with Lucy Lucas winning the shot in 8m99, Daisy Sindall winning the pole vault 2m30 and Leilani Roberts the hammer in 22m96.
Wimborne dominate the under 13 age groups. The reliable Olivia Jones was a winner in the shot 8m04 and Iris Jones (no relation) scored good points in the 100 metres with a second placed 14.41 and 200 29.61. Kayla Robbins was also second in the high jump with a personal best 1m35. Zachary Fricker won the boys 100 in 13.35 the long jump with 4m74 and was second in the 200 metres 28.08.
In the under 17 age group Harry Woods 5m87 and Jakob Roberts 5m86 scored maximum points in the long jump. Jakob Roberts also won the discus with a grade 2 38m60. Senior men got valuable second places for Daniel Connolly in the Shot 9m54, Louis Sabestini 12m69 in the triple jump and Matty Effick 42m15 in the javelin.
