Report by Peter Impett
A faintly disappointing result in the second match of the South West League saw Wimborne slip from first to second in the league behind home club Exeter Harriers. A fourth place on the day was the best that a team depleted by injury and exam calls could manage.
The under 13 girls racked up many of the points. Rosie Gollings was second in the 100 in 13.76 with Rosie Bond in third place in 14.31. Rosie Gollings was also second in the 800 metres in 2.33.83 and the long jump with 4m17 and Rosie Bond responded with a second placed 200 metres in 29.46. Aside from the Rosie show Bethany Cassidy was second in the shot 6m87. Sophie Regan was slightly unlucky on her debut in the high jump tying with three others on 1m30 but having to take fourth place on countback.
For the under 13 boys Ethan Bodman was third in the 100 metres in 14.33 and Zac Johnson was second in the shot with 6m12. Aspen Stobart won the under 15 discus with 30m87 and was second in the hammer with 36m61. Thea McDonald was second in the pole vault with 1m90. Elliott Trickey won the under 15s triple jump with 10m62. Sam John was second in the 100 metres before pulling up injured in the 200 while Cameron Hartley was second in the pole vault with 2m10. For the seniors Dave Pearson won the pole vault with 3m40with Trudi Carter winning the women’s version with 2m40 Anita Hayward was second with 1m50 with Phil Jones taking third place in the hammer 16m34.
