The summer 2024 track & Field season is now underway, and if you are new to Wimborne AC you might be wondering about opportunities to compete. We take part in various leagues as follows:
As Wimborne AC (red/black vest)
South-West Athletics League – U13s and above
All fixtures are on Sundays at Exeter Arena, on the following dates:

1st September
This is a great competition and Wimborne AC have been overall champions for the past two seasons! We encourage parents to sign up as club members and take part during what is always a great day of competition. Middle distance events include 800/1500/3000/5000m and steeplechase. Wessex Young Athletes Track & Field League – U11s to U17s (with non-scoring spots for U20s)
All fixtures are on Sundays, on the following dates/venues:
28th April – Basingstoke
9th June – Swindon
23rd June – Poole
7th July – Salisbury
The younger age groups really enjoy this competition and strong team-building is evident. Why not come along to support the squad, and perhaps even volunteer in an officiating role! Team manager is Paula Hine – hinepad@me.com

Team Dorset is a composite team comprising athletes from Wimborne AC, Poole AC, Dorchester AC, Poole Runners and Weymouth St Pauls AC
Youth Development League (Lower Age Groups) – U13s and U15s
Team manager is our very own Emma Plimmer – emmaplimmer@btinternet.com selects the squad based on recent form/results. However, there’s no harm in declaring an expression of interest in advance! This season’s fixtures are as follows:
Saturday 20th April – Kings Park
Sunday 19th May – Southampton
Sunday 16th June – Portsmouth
Sunday 21st July – Guildford
There is often a coach laid on for these matches, and Team Dorset kit is available to borrow or purchase on the day.
Southern Athletics League – U17s and above plus non-scorers
Now this is athletics as you’ve never experienced it before! Managed by Poole AC’s Jamie Grose and our very own Dave Pearson, we are a merry band of athletes, officials, parents and supporters who team up with the aim of going out there to enjoy some low-key competition. There are unlimited non-scoring slots so there is plenty scope for experimenting with new events or using the meet as a training exercise.
