Coaching

The Club strives to offer its members the chance to participate in a broad range of athletic events. To achieve this, it focuses on recruiting, retaining, and developing a diverse group of coaches who understand the needs of both the athletes and the Club. These coaches are dedicated to maximizing potential while ensuring that enjoyment remains a key aspect of all activities.
Coaches are available for all major track and field disciplines and hold various coaching qualifications.
Becoming a coach at Wimborne Athletic Club is a great way to contribute to the community and support athletes of all ages. Here are the steps you can take:
- Express Your Interest: Let us know you’re interested in becoming a coach. You can contact us via our website or attend one of our training sessions to speak with current coaches and committee members.
- Attend Training Sessions: Spend some time observing and assisting at training sessions to get a feel for how the club operates and to understand the needs of the athletes.
- Obtain Coaching Qualifications: To become a coach, you need to complete a UK Athletics course delivered by England Athletics. (https://www.englandathletics.org/coaches-and-officials/)
- Complete Necessary Checks: All coaches are required to undergo a DBS check to ensure the safety and well-being of the athletes.
- Volunteer Your Time: Even if you’re not ready to become a fully qualified coach, the club welcomes volunteers who can assist with training sessions and events.
- Stay Committed: Coaching requires dedication and a commitment to helping athletes develop their skills while ensuring they enjoy the sport.
Volunteers
Wimborne Athletic Club is run by a passionate team of volunteers. Many of us are current or former athletes, while others are parents of club members. We always welcome additional help in various areas.
If you have some spare time and would like to support our wonderful club, please talk to one of our coaches. Many of the tasks we need assistance with are simple and not very time-consuming.
