Long jump is a technical event combining speed, strength and power. We split our training into winter, spring and competition season.
Winter training begins in October after a rest from the long summer season; training in the winter consists of conditioning work involving body weight circuits, strength work with weight vests, plyometrics, speed and runway development.
After Christmas indoor competitions are available where we then start to look at the jump itself and start to use the sandpit more so that we can maintain our strength, speed and power into the competition season.
During the summer we work on more specific technical aspects of the long jump.
