Congratulations to our very own Abbie Hine for setting a new senior ladies club record for ten miles on the road = 67:56 (chip time) 68:08 (gun time). The previous mark was 71 minutes set in 1998. Racing in this morning’s Wimborne 10, Abbie looked comfortable as she passed the seven mile point, running at sub 70 minute pace. Abbie skilfully negotiated the last two uphill sections of the course, lowering the club record by over three minutes. Abbie finished 8th female. Abbie is now the proud holder of two WAC club records, the other being the U20 women’s 1500m steeplechase mark.
Isla O’Connor (U20), making her debut over ten miles, was also under the old club record, clocking 70:34 (chip time). Sophie Swift (72:08) was just behind Isla, and the trio combined to win the ladies team prize. Their aggregate time was just ten seconds better than second placed Poole Runners!
